The week prior to the fun run was beautifully warm and sunny with a light breeze. Great! Sunday morning when I pulled up the blind … overcast sky, mist and showers. Hey ho. Sod and his law strike again!! At least the rain was warm and there wasn’t a wind.
As my partner in crime, Ellen, is walking with a stick and couldn’t attend, I was, as usual, harassed. However, while their Dad was running, I had two young gentlemen who helped, Tom and Harry Walters. Harry acted as photographer and Tom was timekeeper.
Daniel and Alex Heppell ran, and were most annoyed when their Mam made them return after 21/2 km. Their comment was: “next time it’s all the way’’.
I have come to the conclusion that we have some very hardy (or daft) souls in this neck of the woods. Although it wasn’t very cold, I was still wearing an anorak, but three runners stripped off and went for a SWIM! The sky was grey and so was the sea. UGH!
However, most people went back to the house where there were refreshments, laughter, and a party atmosphere. GREAT!
